I first learned animation through flipbooks. I loved how they could breathe life into the paper. Here, I’m doing the same thing. I’m breathing life into a sheet of paper by telling a story on folded pages. The bouncing square is an homage to the classic bouncing ball animation, which teaches you the fundamentals of animation. Working on this reminded me of how I felt doing my first animations, so I’m glad I could revisit the idea in a new medium.

Because someone will inevitably ask, yes, this was folded from a single square of paper, no cuts. Many origami artists have attempted the technical challenge of creating a book with multiple pages, but this is the first to actually have content on the pages. I hope this piece shows the community how much further we can go in terms of pure technique.
